Project Manager LDE Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity – Erasmus University Rotterdam

We are looking for a Project Manager to contribute to the development of the LDE GMD Research Center and the master specialization ‘Governance of Migration and Diversity.

Job description

LDE is a co-operation between Leiden University, Delft University and Erasmus University Rotterdam. This program has received funding from the three LDE partners and evolved into research centre LDE GMDOpent extern. Therefore, the LDE Research Center GMD is looking for a Project Manager, which will be mainly based at Erasmus University Rotterdam. However, the Project Manager will work for all partners within LDE GMD.

This position is an exciting opportunity to work towards a program of research, teaching and impact activities in collaboration with senior academic staff members of the LDE Center and its constituent departments at Leiden, Delft and Erasmus University.

The Project Manager will mainly be responsible for all management tasks in supporting an interdisciplinary and interuniversity research center. This implies that the primary tasks are related to the everyday management, organization, communication and administration of the center, as well as for coordination of the Master track collaboration GMD since the LDE program ‘Governance of Migration and Diversity’ (GMD) has been running a highly successful master specialisationOpent extern over the last years. The Project Manager will support activities related to the governance, social media communication and events organisation of LDE GMD (such as staff exchanges, joint teaching and training opportunities, conferences, seminars and symposia) that make the activities of the center visible.

Importantly, this position contains various developmental opportunities to grow in more education and research (support) roles, for which a highly stimulating environment is provided.

While the Project Manager will mainly be active in the support and organizing activities to build up LDE GMD, there are many opportunities for self-initiated activities to boost the impact of the center. In that regard, the Project Manager will cooperate with LDE colleagues and in close contact with the Managing and Academic Directors.

Requirements

The successful candidate for this position has:

  • An international profile with work expertise in the field of diversity, migration, governance and inequality;
  • A Master degree in social sciences, such a geography, sociology, history, planning, public administration, policy studies or other relevant disciplines, with an eye for international migration processes and their consequences;
  • Strong operational and management skills in the development and design of education and research;
  • Experience in organizing (public, professional and academic) research meetings;
  • Strong communicative skills, both in speech and in writing to actively disseminate content;
  • Experience with network management of academic stakeholders and societal partners;
  • Ambition to grow in educational and research activities;
  • A preparedness to master the Dutch language;
  • The ability to start between 01-11-2023 and 01-12-2023.

Conditions of employment

Your initial employment term will be one year. Your initial employment term will be 01-11-2023 to 01-11-2024. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of €3226 to a maximum of € 5090 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 10 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme.
