Call for papers Moving Humanities Conference

Moving Humanities Conference | Radboud University and Groningen University | October 31st and November 1st, 2024.

Call for Papers, deadline – 31 July 2024

The Moving Humanities Conference is back this year from 31 October to 1 November with our 2024 edition.

Moving Humanities offers a podium to graduate students from all disciplines in the humanities, and aims to promote cross-disciplinary collaborations.

This year, the conference theme is Resistance, taken in its broadest sense, both within our subjects of research and the humanities itself. Resistance can be to the common way of understanding things, to other positions and interpretations, to change, or as a subject in itself. From clashes between linguistic theories to social movement dynamics to questioning the historical canon: you name it!

Alongside talks and posters, the conference will feature a debate (all attendees will have the opportunity to take part) and a special panel discussion during which experienced academics will share their wisdom with the next generation.

We are now calling for abstracts for talks and poster presentations. We invite any submission from (research) master and PhD students, and will give special consideration for those which fit the broad theme of Resistance as defined above. Accepted submissions will receive feedback from assigned commentators at the conference.

In the submission form, you can indicate if you wish your abstract to be considered for a talk (20 minutes followed by Q&A) or a poster presentation (a poster and a short pitch). Abstracts for talks which are unsuccessful will be automatically considered for a poster presentation.

Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words (excluding bibliography). Please make sure to remove any identifying information from your abstract (e.g. affiliation, names). You will provide your contact information in the submission form, but selection will take place based on abstracts alone to ensure anonymity and fairness in the selection process.

Please fill in this form by July 31st 2024 to submit your abstract. You will be notified about your abstract’s acceptance in the second half of August.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the organising committee at movinghumanities24@gmail.com.
